A few answers to common questions about getting started, sessions, and payment.
We'll begin with a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation. This gives us a chance to briefly talk about what brings you to counseling, answer any questions you may have, and determine whether I may be a good fit for what you're looking for. If we decide to move forward, we'll schedule your intake session.
Your first session is an intake appointment. We'll spend time getting to know one another, discussing what brings you to counseling, gathering relevant background information, and beginning to identify what you'd like to work toward. You don't need to have everything perfectly organized before you arrive. We'll take it from there.
That's okay — there is a first time for everything! You don't need to know what you're supposed to say or how therapy is supposed to work. If you're unsure, the complimentary consultation is a good place to start.
Fit matters. The consultation gives us an opportunity to get a sense of whether working together feels appropriate. If we begin counseling and later determine that I'm not the right person for you, that's okay too — I can help you identify other options or provide referrals when appropriate.
This depends on your needs, goals, and preferences. For many clients, weekly sessions are a good starting point.
Sessions are approximately 50–55 minutes.

Waypoint Counseling is an out-of-network practice and does not bill insurance directly. Depending on your insurance plan, you may be eligible for reimbursement for out-of-network mental health services. I can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company.
The standard session fee is $125 per session. See the Fees & Insurance page for more detail.
A limited number of reduced-fee appointments may be available based on individual circumstances and financial need. Please feel free to ask during your consultation.
Payment options are being finalized — please ask during your consultation for the most current information.
No. Waypoint Counseling is not a crisis or emergency service.
If you are experiencing an emergency or are in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or having thoughts of suicide, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Feel free to reach out directly — a short conversation is often the easiest way to know if this is the right fit.
